Back Lawn Extension

April 9, 2006

Our documentation started a bit after we did. Most of the flowers and bushes have
been removed from the left back section and we are now ready to take out the gravel
walkways and determine where the lawn edging should now be. We are trying to
work between the continuing rain showers, or are those snowflakes?

April 13, 2006

We had to get rid of that old tree stump.

April 15, 2006

We interrupted our work to watch the snow fall.

April 19, 2006

After removing the flower beds and gravel pathways, we pause
again to add a rock and flower arrangement in the back corner.

Next comes a session of breaking up the old dirt to get it loose enough for the rototiller.

April 25, 2006

Our new friends (really) at Pleasant Valley Landscape Products brought us some new topsoil.
Note the effect of the rototilling compared to the previous picture.

May 8, 2006

Now that the topsoil is all spread out, we're ready for a layer of mulch.

May 10, 2006

We had to install a temporary fence to keep Shelby from eating all the mulch. She thinks it's yummy.

May 11, 2006

We rototilled the mulch into the new topsoil, then did the final detail work the old fashioned way.

May 17, 2006

Going for the instant gratification and to avoid the hassle of seeding, we decided to install sod.

May 19, 2006

All done!  Now it's time to start planning the next project.
