Cottonwood

Arizona Trip, Trips, Home

Dead Horse Ranch State Park is a very pleasant place with nicely spaced out campsites and a great view of the surrounding mountains. We made this our base for about a week while we checked out all the nearby attractions.

Jerome was originally a mining town perched on the side of the mountain.  It is now filled with numerous shops.
There is a scenic drive to Oak Creek Vista on the top of the mountain where you have a nice view and a little jewelry shopping opportunity.
Sedona is an upscale little city in a very scenic setting.
Crescent Moon Ranch offers hiking trails, picnic tables, playground areas and one main rock feature.
Red Rock State Park has a few rock formations, a nice visitor center and numerous hiking trails.
Tuzigoot National Monument just north of Cottonwood is an interesting place for a short visit.
The Montezuma Castle cliff dwellings can only be viewed from the path, as there is no direct access allowed.
Dinner

Blazin' M Ranch provides an entertaining dinner show and country style chow.
