Dead Horse Ranch State Park is a very pleasant place with nicely spaced out campsites and a great view of the surrounding mountains. We made this our base for about a week while we checked out all the nearby attractions. |

| Jerome was originally a mining town perched on the side of the mountain. It is now filled with numerous shops. | ||
| There is a scenic drive to Oak Creek Vista on the top of the mountain where you have a nice view and a little jewelry shopping opportunity. | ||
| Sedona is an upscale little city in a very scenic setting. | ||
| Crescent Moon Ranch offers hiking trails, picnic tables, playground areas and one main rock feature. | ||
| Red Rock State Park has a few rock formations, a nice visitor center and numerous hiking trails. | ||
| Tuzigoot National Monument just north of Cottonwood is an interesting place for a short visit. | ||
| The Montezuma Castle cliff dwellings can only be viewed from the path, as there is no direct access allowed. | ||
