Fall 2007 trip

Map

Pre September 16, 2007

We started by planning our trip and mapping it out to be fairly relaxed and easygoing, yet with a variety of things to see and do. (Actually Marie planned and Patrick said, "Sounds good.")

Campsite

September 16, 2007

Our first stop was Collier State Park which is a small but very pleasant state campground at the junction of Spring Creek and the Williamson River. We had been advised that we should take the half mile hike to see the park's Logging Museum so, of course, we did.

Spring Creek

September 21, 2007

The first stop was Fort Rock State Park, followed by the nearby Homestead Village.

September 21, 2007

The Crooked River Ranch RV Park, which is in a very pleasant and unique setting, made a good base camp for a few days.

September 22, 2007

Exploring the numerous little shops in the town of Sisters used up several hours, then we ended the day's exploring with a stop at the Crescent Moon Ranch to see their Alpacas, which are mild-tempered and rather cute members of the camel family.

September 23, 2007

We took a break from crafting and computing to drive out and look at Smith Rock State Park.

September 24, 2007

North of Redmond a little ways is Lake Billy Chinook and the Cove Palisades State Park, which was very pleasant looking with lots of grass and plenty of room between sites.

September 26, 2007

The Crown Villa RV Resort in Bend was a very nice place to spend the last few days of our trip. The first item on our agenda was to go see the nearby Lava River Cave and to hike the mile long lava tube there.

September 27, 2007

We first stopped to see Paulina Falls, then took the self guided tour of the Big Obsidian Flow.

September 27, 2007

We drove up to the top of the Lava Butte.

September 27, 2007

The High Desert Museum was our last stop for this trip, after which we spent the next day just resting up, then headed off for home.
