Homestead Village

September 2007

The Homestead Historical Society collected a variety of old buildings and brought them all here to become the Homestead Village Museum.

The buildings were brought from fairly close by so the countryside is probably very similar.

They had an old ledger on display from the Woman's club.

This was an assay office which became a post office.

Their Underwood typewriter caught our attention, as it appears to be a twin of the one Patrick had in his early childhood which now sits on our living room bookshelf.

There is a schoolhouse sitting off to the side.

It seems to be all ready for class to start.

Imagine that you were homesteading and this was your home and land.

I'm guessing that it is Fort Rock in that windowpane painting they have hanging on the wall. Probably just what they saw when they stepped outside.

It's likely that everyone was a "handyman" in those days and this old wagon has what seems to be a tool chuck box on the back, full of little drawers for keeping repair parts, or something.
