Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Septemberr 2005:

Here is an early autumn view of the Upper Falls in Yellowstone's Grand Canyon.

Bison seem to be the biggest animal population these days. We saw an elk herd
or two and a single coyote, and were told that a moose had been sighted nearby,
but not by us. There was no sign of bears anywhere, though we were warned
that they were around.

We stopped to get this picture of Kepler Cascades. There are
many dead trees standing throughout the park and new growth everywhere.
The 1988 fire is still much in evidence, but the forest is certainly recovering.

A light snow added a little frosting to the landscape.

We woke to a little more "frosting" than we really wanted,
so decided to get out while we still could.

We parked for lunch at Mammoth and were treated to elk just out our window.
